Dictionary

Dictionary teaches Whisperr the names, spellings, and topics that come up in your recordings, so transcription gets them right instead of guessing at an unfamiliar word by sound. It has three sections — Context, Pronunciation, and General vocabulary — each aimed at a different kind of correction, plus an Apply dictionary toggle in the recording bar that turns the whole thing on or off per recording.

What Each Section Does​

Context​

A single sentence describing what the recording is about, e.g. "This is a company dinner." This gives the transcriber background so it can anticipate the kind of words likely to come up, the way telling a new interpreter what the meeting is about helps them follow along.

Pronunciation​

A table of direct corrections: Sounds like on the left, Spelled as on the right. Use this when Whisperr consistently mishears a specific word — most often a name — as something else. For example, if "John" keeps coming through as a different spelling, add a row with John on the left and Jonn on the right (using whatever spelling you actually need). Of the three sections, this gives the transcriber the strongest, most targeted signal for a word it keeps getting wrong — though it's still a hint the transcriber weighs against what it actually hears, not a guaranteed find-and-replace.

General vocabulary​

A flat, comma-separated list of names, places, and terms your recordings mention — for example Jonn, Whisperr. This raises the odds Whisperr recognizes and spells those terms correctly when it hears them, without tying them to a specific mishearing the way Pronunciation does.

How It Works​

  1. Fill in any combination of Context, Pronunciation, and General vocabulary on the Dictionary page — changes save automatically as you type.
  2. Start a recording. Apply dictionary is on by default, so your saved dictionary is used automatically.
  3. Don't want it for a particular recording? Open the "…" options menu in the recording bar and uncheck Apply dictionary — new recordings won't use it while it's off.
  4. The toggle is remembered: it applies to every recording after that until you flip it again, so turn it back on when you want your dictionary applied again.
