How It Works​

Floating subtitles keep Whisperr's live transcription and translation on screen while you use something else. On a phone or tablet, they appear as a floating overlay on top of any app; on the Web App, with Chrome or Edge, subtitles can pop into a small window that stays on top of the tab or app you're watching (other browsers, and the Chrome Extension, show them in a separate Whisperr tab instead); on Mac and Windows, the desktop app captures your system audio and shows subtitles in a small always-on-top floating window — a solid panel or, with one more click, fully transparent so whatever's behind it stays visible. Either way, the subtitles update in real time as audio plays.

*1 iOS apps cannot capture audio directly from Teams, Meet, or Zoom due to privacy restrictions. You can join the call using a browser instead and capture the translation using the Web App or Chrome Extension. Alternatively, use Microphone Audio Capture with an external speaker.

*2 The floating window needs Chrome or Edge — see the Web App guide for details.

*3 On Windows, the floating window can't draw over another app's exclusive full-screen mode — switch that app to windowed or borderless if it's covering the subtitles. Not a limitation on Mac.

Tips for Best Results​

  • Adjust the overlay position — drag the floating subtitle window to a spot that doesn't block important content
  • Change font size — increase or decrease the subtitle font size to enable better readability for long periods of time
