Speech Mode on Mac

Speech Mode reads each finished translation aloud through your Mac's speaker or headphones, so you can listen instead of (or alongside) reading the screen.

How to Use Speech Mode on Mac​

  1. Download Whisperr for Mac if you haven't already, then launch Whisperr

Adjust the Speaking speed (0.5×–2×) under ⚙ Settings to taste. Use headphones for private listening and to avoid the spoken output being picked back up by the microphone.

On Mac, translations are read in the standard voice for your target language. Choosing the voice — Auto, Male, or Female, with Auto matching each speaker's own voice — is available on iPhone/iPad, Android, and the Web App; see Choosing the Voice.

Common Issues (Mac)​

No audio is spoken​

Confirm the Interpreter toggle is on, and that your Mac's output isn't muted (System Settings > Sound > Output).

Echo or feedback loop​

When Whisperr is capturing your microphone, Echo Cancellation is automatic on Mac — it filters the app's own spoken output out of the mic, so no toggle is needed. If you still hear the same sentence translated twice, use headphones or lower your output volume.

When Whisperr is capturing system or screen audio, it mutes the captured stream while the translation is playing instead, so the loop can't start.

Still nothing​

Restart the app and try again.
