Chinese is tonal (the same syllable changes meaning with pitch) and counts nouns with measure words instead of plurals. Whisperr’s speech recognition covers the Chinese spoken across China, Taiwan, and Singapore.
Malay sits so close to Indonesian that the two are easily confused, so recognition has to key on the loanwords and everyday vocabulary that set it apart. Recognition likewise covers the Malay of Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore.
The transcript shows each side in its own writing system: simplified or traditional Chinese characters for Chinese, the Latin alphabet (Rumi) for Malay. Chinese is a tonal language, where pitch changes a word’s meaning, so translation works on whole phrases rather than isolated words. Because Whisperr auto-detects which of the two languages is being spoken, Chinese to Malay conversations flow in both directions without switching anything by hand.
