Family & relatives
Talk to Family Who Speak a Different Language
- 1
Pick the two languages
One for you, one for them: for example English and Spanish, or Japanese and Portuguese. Whisperr listens for both at once.
- 2
Put the phone between you
Press Record and talk normally. Each person speaks their own language; leave a short pause between turns so lines stay separate.
- 3
Read it, or hear it
Each line shows up translated as it is said. Turn on Speech Mode to have the translation spoken aloud, and use headphones or Echo Cancellation so the app does not hear itself.
Talk in person
Put the phone between you and talk: each of you speaks your own language and reads the other’s translation as it happens, so the conversation flows without waiting for anyone to interpret.

Talk online
Open the Whisperr web or desktop app beside your Zoom call and read what they say in your language as they say it, so a family video call keeps its natural pace.

How to enable two way real time translation
Setup takes under a minute on any device.
- 1
Set both languages
Pick the language each person speaks, one in each slot.
- 2
Make sure the arrow shows ⇄
Tap the arrow between the languages until it shows ⇄ (two-way).
- 3
Press Record and talk
Each person speaks their own language and Whisperr translates both ways.

Where it helps
Family conversations that stall on language
Each one comes with a plain note on how to set it up and where it falls short.
Grandparents and grandchildren
Put the phone on the table between you and talk. Each side speaks their own language and reads or hears the other. Short turns work best, and a quiet room helps a lot.
Shadowing practice for kids learning the languageYour partner’s parents
Meet in-laws without a go-between. Choose the two languages, talk normally, and keep Speech Mode off unless they prefer to listen rather than read.
Dinners and holiday tables
Works best one person at a time. Two people talking at once, clinking plates and music all lower accuracy, so move the phone close to whoever is speaking.
Relatives calling from abroad
On a WhatsApp or FaceTime call, the phone-call guides explain how to capture the other side without a second device.
Translate a WhatsApp callVideo calls with family
The FaceTime page covers the same setup for Apple devices, including what can and cannot be captured on one phone.
Translate a FaceTime callBig gatherings and weddings
Start a Broadcast Mode room and share the link or QR. A room is your language plus five more, and guests pick theirs on their own phone.
Broadcast ModeTalk face to face — and hear the translation out loud
Put one phone between you. Whisperr listens for both languages, translates each person, and speaks the translation aloud.
- Two Way Conversation: set the direction to ⇄ and Whisperr listens for both languages on one microphone
- Speech Mode reads each translation aloud, so nobody has to look at the screen
- Nobody has to tap anything between turns

What users say
Whisperr review
“I love how easy Whisperr is to use and how it accurately understands and translates text and speech across different languages. It's so effective that even in scenarios where other tools might fail, Whisperr performs perfectly. Additionally, the ability to select languages for translation directly on a phone is fantastic. This feature helps us translate church services, ensuring everyone understands without missing anything important. The initial setup was straightforward, making it smooth to start using immediately.”
Fast Translations and a Clear, Easy-to-Read Layout
“It translated really fast, and the way the text appears on the screen—with its clear layout—is very easy to read.”
Whisperr Delivers Lightning-Fast, Highly Accurate Real-Time Translation
“The translation is extremely fast and accurate; after comparing several programs, I consider Whisperr to be the fastest and most accurate real-time translation app.”
Top-Notch Speech Recognition and Flashcard-Style Translations for Fast Study
“Whisperr's speech recognition and translation quality are both top-notch, and better than similar tools I've tried so far. Beyond that, as a Japanese learner, I especially like how Whisperr displays each sentence and its translation almost like flashcards, with a text-to-speech button for each one. That setup makes studying feel fast and efficient, and it's easy to review sentence by sentence.”
Simple Real-Time Translation for Work
“I like best about Whisperr is that it feels simple and straightforward to use.”
Awesome
“This is very useful, extremely user-friendly, easy to use, and the recognition capability is very precise, with very fast speed. It should be the most accurate and fastest translation I've used so far.”
Built for the family table
A shared language for people who already share a lot
Whisperr turns one phone into a two-way interpreter, so the conversation stays between you and them instead of going through a third person.
Two-way, no turn buttons
Whisperr listens for both languages through the same microphone and translates each into the other. Nobody taps the screen between sentences.
Read along on screen
The original and the translation sit together, which helps when a word is half-heard or a name is unfamiliar.
Or hear it spoken
Speech Mode reads each translation aloud, useful for a relative who finds small text hard to read. Use headphones or keep Echo Cancellation on.
Phone, tablet or laptop
Use the iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Windows apps or the web app. On iPhone and iPad, Face-to-Face Mode flips half the screen so the person across from you reads it the right way up.
For the whole table
Hosting a gathering? Broadcast Mode lets each guest read your words in their own language on their own phone. No app or sign-up for them.
No device to buy
It runs on the phone you already own. You can try it free; paid plans are a flat fee with unlimited use and no per-minute or per-language metering.
Have the conversation, not the workaround
Translate both sides of a family conversation live. Free to try.
