What you can use it for

What you can translate on an Android phone

From a conversation across a table to a video in another app — here’s what Whisperr handles on Android, and how.

In-person conversations

Two people, two languages, one phone. Two-way conversation listens for both languages and translates each side into the other — at a shop counter, a clinic or a meeting table.

Travel translator

Lectures, classes and talks

Point the phone at the speaker and read along in your language through the In-App Microphone — in a lecture hall, a conference session or on a guided tour.

Classroom lectures

Speaking to a group

Presenting, teaching or leading a tour? Turn on Share Link while recording, and your audience follows the translation on their own phones, in the language they pick — no app needed.

Broadcast Mode

Videos and live streams

Floating subtitles translate YouTube, TikTok and Instagram — live streams included — on top of the video, so you keep watching in one app.

TikTok Live

Online meetings

Zoom, Teams and Meet block other apps from capturing call audio on a phone. Play the meeting on another device’s speakers and translate it with Whisperr’s microphone nearby, or join from a computer and use the web app. The Meeting Bot is coming to Android.

Translate Zoom meetings

Phone calls

Android doesn’t let apps hear a call on the phone that’s making it. Put the call on speaker and run Whisperr in two-way conversation on a second device — a tablet, a laptop or another phone — to read both sides of the call translated.

“I love how easy Whisperr is to use and how it accurately understands and translates text and speech across different languages. It's so effective that even in scenarios where other tools might fail, Whisperr performs perfectly. Additionally, the ability to select languages for translation directly on a phone is fantastic. Top-Notch Speech Recognition and Flashcard-Style Translations for Fast Study

“Whisperr's speech recognition and translation quality are both top-notch, and better than similar tools I've tried so far. Beyond that, as a Japanese learner, I especially like how Whisperr displays each sentence and its translation almost like flashcards, with a text-to-speech button for each one. That setup makes studying feel fast and efficient, and it's easy to review sentence by sentence.”

Worth hundreds of thousands of yen

“The same performance as other conversation translation apps. Those charge by the minute, but this one is apparently a one-time purchase, so the value for money is outstanding. Compared with about five similar apps, this one is the best on both performance and price. I wonder whether it was made by a Japanese developer??”

Everything Whisperr does on Android

The same live translation engine as every Whisperr app, plus an overlay only a phone can offer.

Floating subtitles over other apps

Translated subtitles float above the video or social app you’re watching — YouTube, TikTok, Instagram — so you never switch back and forth. Call apps such as Zoom, Teams and Meet don’t allow it.

Two-way conversation

Two people, two languages, one phone. Whisperr listens for both and translates each side into the other — a fresh install starts in two-way.

Speech Mode

Hear each translation read aloud. Choose an Auto, Male or Female voice and a speaking speed from 0.5× to 2×.

Broadcast to a room

Turn on Share Link while recording and anyone with the link follows your live translation in their browser, in the language they choose.

Echo cancellation on by default

When translations play through the loudspeaker, Whisperr keeps its own voice out of the mic so the same sentence isn’t translated twice.

One subscription, every device

Sign in with the same Whisperr account on iPhone, Mac, Windows or the web app and your plan comes with you.

Translating Zoom, Teams and Google Meet calls on Android

Meeting apps such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet don’t let other apps capture their audio, so floating subtitles can’t translate a call running in one of those apps on your phone.

Two things work instead: play the meeting on another device’s speakers and translate it with Whisperr’s microphone nearby, or join the call from a computer and let the Whisperr web app capture the browser tab. The Meeting Bot, which joins the call for you, is coming to Android — it already runs on iPhone, Mac, Windows and the web.

Whisperr for Android FAQ

Is Whisperr available on Android?+
Yes. Whisperr is on Google Play for Android phones and tablets running Android 9 or later. It translates conversations through the microphone and shows floating subtitles over video apps such as YouTube and TikTok.
Can Whisperr translate videos playing in other apps on Android?+
Yes. Turn on floating subtitles, allow the screen-share prompt, then switch to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or another video app. Translated subtitles stay on top while the video plays. Apps that block audio capture, such as call apps, can’t be translated this way.
Does it work with Zoom, Teams or Google Meet on Android?+
Not through floating subtitles — those apps block other apps from capturing their audio. Play the meeting on another device’s speakers and use Whisperr’s microphone nearby, or join from a computer and use the Whisperr web app. The Meeting Bot is coming to Android.
Can two people have a conversation on one Android phone?+
Yes. Two-way conversation is on by default: set your two languages, keep the arrow on ⇄, and Whisperr listens for both and translates each side. It needs an internet connection.
Can Whisperr read the translation out loud on Android?+
Yes. Open the ••• menu in the recording bar and turn on Enable Real-Time Speech. You can pick an Auto, Male or Female voice and a speed from 0.5× to 2×.
Can I use my Android subscription on my computer?+
Yes. Sign in to a Whisperr account on the phone where you subscribed, then sign in with the same account on Mac, Windows or the web app. You don’t need to buy it again.
Is it free?+
You can try Whisperr for free. Paid plans are a flat price for unlimited real-time use — no per-minute metering and no overage charges.
Can Whisperr translate a phone call on Android?+
Not on the phone that’s making the call — Android doesn’t give apps access to call audio. Put the call on speaker and run Whisperr in two-way conversation on a second device nearby to read both sides translated.
