Translate Telegram Calls in Real Time

Talk to anyone on Telegram in a language you do not share. Whisperr translates the call live on your phone, in your browser or on your computer.

  1. 1

    Pick the languages

Choose the language being spoken and the one you want to read.

  2. 2

    Press Record and speak

Say a sentence or two, the way you would on a Telegram call.

  3. 3

    Read the translation live

Text appears as the words are spoken. The steps below show how to do this on a real call.

When the tab picker opens, tick Share tab audio — without it there is no sound to translate.

Translate a Telegram call on your phone

Use the Whisperr app on iPhone or Android, on the same phone as your call.

  1. 1

Start your Telegram call on speaker

Open the chat in Telegram and start a voice or video call. Then turn on the speaker. No phone app can capture a call on the same phone, so Whisperr listens through the microphone.

  2. 2

    Turn Echo Cancellation off

In Whisperr, open Settings and find it under Transcription Settings. With it off, Whisperr can hear the voice coming from your phone’s speaker.

  3. 3

    Press Record and read

Choose your two languages, press Record and read the translation as the other person talks. A quiet room gives better results.

Translate a Telegram call in your web browser

Use Telegram Web and the Whisperr Web App, with nothing to install.

  1. 1

Start the call in a Chrome tab

Open web.telegram.org in Chrome, log in and start your call there.

  2. 2

Open the Whisperr Web App in another tab

Go to whisperr.co/app in the same browser and choose your languages. Chrome and Edge can capture a tab’s audio.

  3. 3

    Capture the call’s tab

Press Record, choose Screen Capture, pick the Telegram tab and tick Share tab audio. It must be a tab, not a window or your whole screen.

  4. 4

    Keep the translation on top

Click Floating subtitles and the translation stays above the call while you talk.

Translate a Telegram call on your computer

Run the Telegram desktop app and the Whisperr desktop app side by side on your Mac or Windows computer.

  1. 1

Start the call in Telegram on your computer

Use the Telegram desktop app as you normally would. Nobody else on the call needs to install anything.

  2. 2

Open the Whisperr desktop app and choose System audio

System audio lets Whisperr hear the call directly from your Mac or Windows computer. Then pick the language being spoken and the one you want to read.

  3. 3

Press Record and read in real time

The other person’s words appear translated on your screen. Choose Mic + System audio to include your own voice.

Top-Notch Speech Recognition and Flashcard-Style Translations for Fast Study

“Whisperr's speech recognition and translation quality are both top-notch, and better than similar tools I've tried so far. Beyond that, as a Japanese learner, I especially like how Whisperr displays each sentence and its translation almost like flashcards, with a text-to-speech button for each one. That setup makes studying feel fast and efficient, and it's easy to review sentence by sentence.”

Telegram call translation FAQ

Does Whisperr work with Telegram Web?+
Yes. Start the call in a Chrome tab, then capture that tab from the Whisperr Web App with Share tab audio ticked.
Can it translate Telegram group calls?+
Yes. On a computer, System audio hears everything the call plays, so each speaker is translated. On a phone, Whisperr hears the call through its microphone, so speaker volume and room noise matter more.
Does the other person need Whisperr?+
No. Only you need it. To let someone else read along, turn on Broadcast Mode and send them the link. They open it in a browser with no app or sign-up.
Does Whisperr work on Linux?+
The Whisperr desktop app is for Mac and Windows. On Linux, use Telegram Web and the Whisperr Web App in Chrome or Edge.
Is it free?+
You can try it free, but the free plan limits session length, so it will not cover a long call. Paid plans are a flat fee with unlimited use and no per-minute or per-language metering.
Can I use it for medical or legal Telegram calls?+
Whisperr is not a certified interpreter. For legal, medical or safety-critical conversations, use a qualified human interpreter.
