For Couples Who Love Each Other in Two Languages

  1. 1

    Set both first languages

Yours and theirs, for example Japanese and English or Portuguese and French. Check the arrow shows ⇄ so Whisperr listens for both.

  2. 2

Say it in the language you think in

Press Record and speak in your first language. Your partner reads, or hears, it in theirs a moment later, then answers in their own.

  3. 3

Slow down for the big ones

Leave a pause between turns and keep the phone between you. On iPhone and iPad, Face-to-Face Mode lets each of you read your own half.

Talk in person

Put the phone between you and talk: each of you speaks the language you think in and reads the other’s translation as it happens, so neither of you has to settle for the second language.

Talk online

Open the Whisperr web or desktop app beside your video call and read what your partner says in your language as they say it, so a long-distance call keeps its natural pace.

Real life together

When couples reach for it

And when it is better to put the phone away.

The serious conversations

Money, moving countries, having kids, where to spend the holidays. Saying it in your first language means saying what you mean, not what your vocabulary allows.

Arguments

Useful, with a catch: two people talking over each other is exactly what lowers accuracy. If you use it in a disagreement, take turns, and the pause might help anyway.

Tender moments

Some things are better said clumsily in your partner’s language than perfectly through an app. Use it to understand each other, and keep a few sentences just for yourselves.

Meeting each other’s parents

The same phone works for the parents, with its own set of moments and tips.

Talk to your in-laws

Long-distance calls

Put the call on speaker with Whisperr on the same phone and Echo Cancellation off, and read the subtitles. Or take the call on a computer and capture its audio directly.

Translate a phone call

Raising bilingual kids

When each parent speaks their own language to the children, a translator helps the grandparents on both sides keep up.

Grandparents and grandkids

Talk face to face — and hear the translation out loud

Put one phone between you. Whisperr listens for both languages, translates each person, and speaks the translation aloud.

  • Two Way Conversation: set the direction to ⇄ and Whisperr listens for both languages on one microphone
  • Speech Mode reads each translation aloud, so nobody has to look at the screen
  • Nobody has to tap anything between turns

Simple to start

All you need is a phone or a computer.

  1. 1

    Open Whisperr

Use the web app in your browser, or the iPhone, Android, Mac or Windows app.

  2. 2

    Pick your languages and audio

Choose the language being spoken and the one to translate into, then use your microphone — or the audio playing on your computer.

  3. 3

    Just listen, or just speak

Translations appear as people talk. To share them, send the room link or show the QR code.

Whisperr is available everywhere

The desktop app keeps your conversation history on your computer, without sending it to the cloud.

Privacy first

Whisperr translates your conversations without keeping them.

Your audio is processed in real time to produce the transcript and translation, then discarded.

Nothing saved unless you choose

Transcripts and translations are not stored on our servers unless you turn on Save to Cloud.

It's so effective that even in scenarios where other tools might fail, Whisperr performs perfectly. Additionally, the ability to select languages for translation directly on a phone is fantastic. Top-Notch Speech Recognition and Flashcard-Style Translations for Fast Study

“Whisperr's speech recognition and translation quality are both top-notch, and better than similar tools I've tried so far. Beyond that, as a Japanese learner, I especially like how Whisperr displays each sentence and its translation almost like flashcards, with a text-to-speech button for each one. That setup makes studying feel fast and efficient, and it's easy to review sentence by sentence.”

Two first languages

For the conversations your shared language can’t carry yet

Plenty of couples get by in a second language every day, until a conversation needs the words they only have in their first. Whisperr lets each of you speak in the language you think in.

Both of you in your own language

Whisperr listens for both languages on one microphone and translates each into the other, with no turn buttons in between.

See exactly what was said

The original and the translation sit together. When a sentence lands wrong, you can both look at the words instead of arguing about them.

Face to face, on one phone

On iPhone and iPad, Split Screen View with Face-to-Face Mode gives each of you your own half, the right way up. Android splits the transcript without rotating it.

Hear it instead of reading

Speech Mode reads each translation aloud, so you can look at each other rather than at the phone. Use headphones or keep Echo Cancellation on.

Private by default on your phone

On iPhone and Android, transcripts are stored on the phone, not uploaded. Delete any conversation whenever you want.

For long talks, not just phrases

Free sessions are limited in length, so a whole dinner or a long call needs a paid plan: a flat fee with unlimited use and no per-minute or per-language metering.

Say what you actually mean

Each of you in your own language, on one phone. Free to try.

International couples FAQ

Can a translator app help couples who speak different languages?+
Yes, for the conversations your shared language cannot carry. Set both first languages in Whisperr with the arrow on ⇄, put the phone between you, and each speak your own language.
Should we use it instead of learning each other’s language?+
No. It helps you talk properly today; learning each other’s language is still worth it, and the transcript can help you pick up the phrases you use most.
Does it work during an argument?+
Only if you take turns. Overlapping voices lower accuracy a lot, so it works best when one person finishes before the other answers.
Are our conversations private?+
On iPhone and Android, transcripts are saved on your phone, not uploaded, and audio is never stored. On the web app nothing is kept on our servers unless you turn on Save to Cloud.
What if we mix languages in one sentence?+
Whisperr listens for the two languages you picked and assigns each line to one of them, so heavily mixed sentences come out rougher. Finishing a sentence in one language helps.
Is Whisperr a certified interpreter?+
No. Whisperr is a conversation aid, not a certified interpreter. For a doctor’s appointment, a legal matter or a visa interview, use a qualified human interpreter.
Is it free?+
You can try it free, but free sessions are limited in length. Paid plans are a flat fee with unlimited use and no per-minute or per-language metering.
