In-laws
Talk to Your In-Laws Yourself, Not Through Your Partner
- 1
Set your language and theirs
For example English and Korean, or Spanish and German. Check the arrow between them shows ⇄ so Whisperr listens for both.
- 2
Put the phone on the table
Press Record and say hello. Your mother-in-law answers in her language; you read it in yours a moment later. Leave a short pause between turns.
- 3
Let them hear it, too
Turn on Speech Mode so your words are read aloud in their language. Keep Echo Cancellation on (it is by default) so the phone does not translate itself.
Talk in person
Put the phone on the table between you and talk: each of you speaks your own language and reads the other’s translation as it happens, so you talk to them yourself with no one interpreting in between.

Talk online
Open the Whisperr web or desktop app beside your video call and read what they say in your language as they say it, so the Sunday call keeps its natural pace.

How to enable two way real time translation
Setup takes under a minute on any device.
- 1
Set both languages
Pick the language each person speaks, one in each slot.
- 2
Make sure the arrow shows ⇄
Tap the arrow between the languages until it shows ⇄ (two-way).
- 3
Press Record and talk
Each person speaks their own language and Whisperr translates both ways.

Moments it is for
The conversations you have been rehearsing
Each with how to set it up, and what to watch for.
Meeting the parents for the first time
Set it up before you arrive, so the first thing you do is say hello, not fiddle with settings. A few sentences in their language that you learned yourself still go a long way; let Whisperr carry the rest.
Holiday dinner at their place
Move the phone close to whoever is talking. Ten relatives talking at once, the TV and clattering plates all lower accuracy, so use it for the one-to-one conversations, not the whole table.
The Sunday video call
Put the call on speaker and run Whisperr on the same phone with Echo Cancellation off, then read the subtitles. Or take the call on a laptop and capture its audio, no speaker needed.
Translate a WhatsApp callBeing asked about your job, your plans, the kids
The questions parents care about are the ones that get lost when a partner summarises. On screen, you can see exactly what was asked before you answer.
Helping in the kitchen
Short, practical exchanges (“where do you keep the bowls?”) are where one phone on the counter works best: one person at a time, short sentences.
The wedding
For speeches and toasts to a mixed-language room, a different setup fits better: each guest reads along on their own phone.
Wedding translationTalk face to face — and hear the translation out loud
Put one phone between you. Whisperr listens for both languages, translates each person, and speaks the translation aloud.
- Two Way Conversation: set the direction to ⇄ and Whisperr listens for both languages on one microphone
- Speech Mode reads each translation aloud, so nobody has to look at the screen
- Nobody has to tap anything between turns

What users say
Whisperr review
“I love how easy Whisperr is to use and how it accurately understands and translates text and speech across different languages. It's so effective that even in scenarios where other tools might fail, Whisperr performs perfectly. Additionally, the ability to select languages for translation directly on a phone is fantastic. This feature helps us translate church services, ensuring everyone understands without missing anything important. The initial setup was straightforward, making it smooth to start using immediately.”
Fast Translations and a Clear, Easy-to-Read Layout
“It translated really fast, and the way the text appears on the screen—with its clear layout—is very easy to read.”
Whisperr Delivers Lightning-Fast, Highly Accurate Real-Time Translation
“The translation is extremely fast and accurate; after comparing several programs, I consider Whisperr to be the fastest and most accurate real-time translation app.”
Top-Notch Speech Recognition and Flashcard-Style Translations for Fast Study
“Whisperr's speech recognition and translation quality are both top-notch, and better than similar tools I've tried so far. Beyond that, as a Japanese learner, I especially like how Whisperr displays each sentence and its translation almost like flashcards, with a text-to-speech button for each one. That setup makes studying feel fast and efficient, and it's easy to review sentence by sentence.”
Simple Real-Time Translation for Work
“I like best about Whisperr is that it feels simple and straightforward to use.”
Awesome
“This is very useful, extremely user-friendly, easy to use, and the recognition capability is very precise, with very fast speed. It should be the most accurate and fastest translation I've used so far.”
Meeting the family
Your partner should not have to interpret every sentence
When your partner translates for you, they miss the conversation, you get the short version, and their parents never quite hear you. One phone on the table changes that.
You talk to them directly
Whisperr listens for both languages on one microphone and translates each into the other. Nobody taps a button between turns, and your partner gets to sit back and eat.
They hear your words, in their language
Speech Mode reads each translation aloud, which suits parents who would rather listen than squint at a phone. They hear what you actually said, not a summary.
Both sides on screen
The original and the translation sit side by side, so a misheard name or a garbled word is easy to spot and say again.
Readable from across the table
On iPhone and iPad, Split Screen View with Face-to-Face Mode flips the top half so the person opposite reads it the right way up. Android splits the screen but does not rotate it.
Weekly video calls, too
Put the call on speaker with Whisperr on the same phone, or take it on a computer and capture the audio directly. Details below.
Nothing for them to install
Face to face, everything runs on your phone. They just talk. Free sessions are limited in length, so a whole dinner or a long call needs a paid plan: a flat fee with unlimited use and no per-minute or per-language metering.
Say it to them yourself
Two-way translation on the phone you already have. Free to try.
